Strobe Light Beauty

Ensembles speak volumes before the muse ever utters a word.  Your entire back story and horoscope can be read from the way you role your sleeves, which further justifies the salient notion that the devil is in the details.  Adding to the unwritten story of (insert name here) is the particular beauty habits you indulge in.  Whether it be bold lips, statement shadows, millennial cake or European subtlety, each cosmetic choice tells a different story.  With any sartorial chameleon choices and options are inscribed in the threading.  The stylish do not box themselves in to one look, they branch out in order to fulfil the fantasy of the art.  Statement earrings and pinstripes compliment a look to the same degree of your lipstick choice.  Recently, my go to beauty look has been the natural finish, an island glow of some sort.  The sunny season brings with it the brightest of sunshine’s and the warmest of skies; fitting then for us to match our wardrobe to the temperate climate but not stopping there, as pairing your make-up to the times creates a well-rounded look.  And each has its unique signifier: Spring with the neon’s, Summer with highlights, Fall with auburns and Winter with the deeps. But one thing common to them all is the fresh healthy look of naturally dewy skin.

All year round we aim for the perfect youthful glow, but I’ve never seen a more appropriate time.  Good skincare is the first step, yes, but some beauty products may act as the perfect camouflage.  This one isn’t far off nor far from the highlighting craze that has taken over the beauty community.  Strobing!  Rather strobe creams have been the secret to all the baby faced beauties of the world.  It’s all about the dewy skin and strobing is the way to achieve the most decadent natural glow.  Next up after our primers is a healthy portion of this liquid gold and my ammunition of choice is M.A.C’s strobe cream.  I fell head over heels with the healthy look of model skin after watching the talented make-up artists during fashion week work on the angel faces of the super models of our day.  They looked so ethereal and effortless quite literally like they woke up like that. Curiosity got the best of me and turned me on the hunt to achieve this facile beauty.  I began hearing mumblings of illuminating creams and primers and decided to check it out, which brought me to the M.A.C boutique where a new love was discovered.  One to two dabs at the tester station made me understand the craze and solidified my need.

It is an amazing product because of its versatility which allows you to achieve looks from any point on the beauty spectrum.  Depending on the desired look it may be added directly to the skins high points on the areas you wish to emphasize, or it may be mixed in with foundation before applied to the face.  When I execute the mix method I obtain the most beautiful finish, closest to natural skin.  It helps me look youthful and shows my true spirit, a virginal 14 y/o still blissfully unaware of the horror that is the menses.  On the M.A.C cosmetics website they sum up its intention perfectly –

“A moisturizer that boosts the look of dull skin and luminizes with iridescent particles.  Super-powered with potent botanicals, it boosts the look of dull, flat or tired looking skin with nutritious vitamins and a mega dose of green tea.  Brightens and clarifies with iridescent particles and antioxidants while adding the softest glow to the skin in sunlight to spotlight.”

It’s great for the warmer months because it adds shine and brings out the skins natural bronzed tones, and its perfect for transitional periods due its light boosting technology which keeps the skin looking healthy in the cooler months.  The illuminated look is becoming more popular within the community as more and more brands have played their hand with their own creations. Maybelline New York has a beautiful affordable illuminating liquid, the Master Strobing Liquid from their Facestudio range. Victoria Beckham’s line with Estee’ Lauder has a magnificently packaged illuminating cream – Morning Aura that is rumoured to be fantastic.  Marc Jacobs also has an illuminator that has built up a positive reputation for itself from his most recent beauty launch of the Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter.  It’s praised for its subtle tint and beautiful finish, review to come soon. For my look, I placed the strobe cream directly onto my cheeks, I also mixed it in with my foundation.  I concealed and set as I normally would and for an additional shine I dusted on some highlighter with a damp brush and quickly set it before it had completely settled into the skin.  I would recommend the highlighter but I’d be lying if I said it was worth it.

These contemporary cosmetic looks truly bring out the natural beauty of the skin.  It’s an affordable trick to looking your best as the effortlessly chic goddesses. It’s perfect with tinted moisturiser for quick day looks and fabulous at night for a natural lit from within shimmer.  I prefer the liquid-cream products because they absorb into the skin beautifully creating the most mesmerizing skin finish, but a little powder to set never hurt.  Beauty is timeless and style is unique.  A girl can be two things classy and fabulous especially with a little strobe cream. – Mademoiselle CoCo + Mademoiselle Robyn.
