Alberta Ferretti Spring Summer 2018

  • September 21, 2017

Alberta Ferretti Spring Summer ’18 show was filled with sultry fabrics bringing which brought relaxation to the runway.  Models from the likes of the Hadid sisters and other big names such as Jones Smalls and Karlie Kloss captured the attention of on lookers as their slender frames elegantly pulled off the beautiful draping envisioned by the designer.  The high sheen and glitz contrasted the knitted and woven tops creating an interesting look, one not normally found in high fashion.  However, the shock value settled as the muted colours poured out one by one.  Avoiding the bright attention seeking colours shown by other designers, Alberta Ferretti shocked by presenting a more laid back feel to Spring dressing.  Void of floral, finalmente a collection without the crutch others so desperately cling to, this Spring Summer ’18 show had a nonchalant sophistication perfect for a romantic get-away to an European isle.  Not an everyday collection, these pieces echo a strong woman who is most comfortable at her least exposed.  They spoke an untold sexy, a hidden appeal by draping the models in these decadent fabrics leaving a slither of décolletage or midriff peeping through leaving the rest up to the lustful imagination.  The Ferretti woman is a woman in her own, a rose amongst daisies independently beautiful and pleasantly flawed.  The raw almost 5 minute makeup and hair paired perfectly with the ease of the show set in a classic Milan relic.   It is refreshing to be surprised, not by outgoing and daring but through art and design as seen with Ferretti’s Spring Summer ’18 show where garments were romanticized effortlessly and chic, capturing the essence of the modern beauty mirroring the stance that most women have taken in embracing their natural self with the ease of their bodies not being policed or sexualised in over bearing scanty garments.
